Rattlers are moving early this year. Today this one was well behaved like most timber rattlesnakes. Even when gently lifted off the trail (with a long stick!!!) it never became aggressive, never rattled. You just about have to step on them to make them bite you, so take a good look at the images below to help you avoid an unhappy encounter. This one was lying across the trail, as many will when sunning themselves.
