The sinkhorn fungus produces a nasty smell to invite insects to help distribute its spores.

This poor fly searched high and low for the source of the smell but couldn’t find anything to eat.

It finally gave up and sat on a nearby rhodo leaf to evaluate the situation….

… only to be pounced on by a hungry bald-faced hornet.
